Murder attempt on Mill Plat, Friday 18th

Does anyone know anything more about this? As I walked up Mill Plat about an hour before, has made me a little nervous!

JulieI have been asked by the police to make the following statement available to anybody who enquires:========================================================Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Isleworth.Police were called at approximately 21:00hrs on Friday 18 September to reports of a 46-year-old man with serious injuries at Mill Plat , Isleworth. London Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition. Miss Jodie Dobby (age 22 years) has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm  and kept in custody to appear at Feltham Mag Court on 21st September 2009. A nineteen year old male remains in custody to be questioned by police.There was no sexual offence involved in this incident.Hounslow CID is investigating and ask anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with any information to call 020 8247 6160; if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I must admit that when I passed the scene on Saturday and saw Forensics on their hands and knees scraping up what I assumed to be blood and/or DNA samples I did fear the worst.  But I didn't start the rumours!

Are we to infer that the victim was specifically targeted rather than its being a random attack?

SusanI'm afraid I honestly don't know anything beyond what was in the police statement.  As the Magistrates' Court hearing was on Monday I guess it will be in this week's papers, although if the charge is GBH the accused will have been committed to appear in Crown Court at a later date.

That is truly appalling, just hope he makes a full recovery, why on earth would anyone sink so low as to attack such a vulnerable person?

No, I just sometimes have this despairing opinion of London in general. Mind you I know things like this happen all over the country every day, I think I'm just noticing it alot more lately. (sorry, it's been a bit of a pessimistic day)

We have friends who live in the incredibly snooty Wokingham and I can tell you they've had more than their fair share of serious crimes there in the last few years. I don't think crime is confined to London and I'd say that we are pretty lucky here, Chiswick, where they think they're all frightfully a cut above the rest of us aren't immune either. Does anyone know how the victim of the attack is doing?
