Door to door Salesmen

In the last 2 months I have had two visits from the door to door sales people who turn up with a crate full of tea towels, dusters and cleaning tools etc.On the both occaisions I have politely thanked them for their time but declined to purchase. On both occaisions the sales people have been rude with the second telling me to "F*** off then" as he left.Whilst I am young and it is water off a ducks back, I am annoyed that they are bussed in to be rude to people and worry for the elderley residents in my road.

Reminds me of a similar incident a few years ago when I go a similar knock at the door. Upon opening it I was confronted with a young lad with obvius speech problems. He showed me a card which explained that he was deaf and dumb and that selling these cleaning materials helped him make a living.I apologised and told him that I didnt need any more tea towels, dusters or iron board covers and he told me to F off then. He must have been a good lip reader and his powers of speech made a very quick, albeit short receovery as he huffed off down the pathway.About 6 weeks later he was at my door selling silverware. He clearly had memory problems as he didnt recall me.I declined his offer and this time he left without any abuse to go next door. He was arrested 15 minutes later in possesion of stolen goods.

Was that the poor man on 'Rogue Traders' last week? Two of these nasty b******s conned another single edlerly man out of all his savings and very nearly got his house too. They'd befriended him and even introduced him to their families, you saw the arrest on the T.V. as they helped trap them - what a nasty, heartless thing to do. It seems that no matter how many warnings there are they go on getting away with it, I wonder if our generation will be as gullible?

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the recent case where a Brentford man was defrauded of his house and life savings by door-to-door so-called house-repairers.The case was widely publicised by the Daily Express with 2 page spread.  It involved builders doing accidental damage to property, giving free-repairs, inveigling themselves into single mans confidence, taking him out to football matches, doing other free roof repairs then billing him.They were caught when  thy attempted the same trick in North London.  Apprehended while doing their con and receiving around 5 years each.
