MAGPIE & CROWN TO OPEN AGAIN

Just received some great news from Del at the Magpie & Crown letting me know that they are going to reopen around lunch time tomorrow (Friday).Thought I'd put it on here to let everyone know.

Having called into the Magpie for some years as our final stop returning from Sunday cycles, I was appalled to hear last week that it had closed.  Needless to say, it was wonderful to walk in there on Sunday to see the place packed out.  We will also be walking there in future if it's too wet to cycle.

I was pleased that a business that looked like it was over has had a second chance. We need more of this in the area. Sorry to hear you were turned down for a shop. More needs to be done to open up empty propertys.

Hurrah!  It was great to have a pint or two in the Magpie at the weekend.  Have now vowed to pop in more often - now I know I would be supporting Brentford High Street as well as enjoying some fantasic beer and the friendliest atmosphere.

AndrewDon't get me wrong I like a pint, preferably ESB I have had a beer in the Magpie and feel it is one of the better pubs in Brentford.I am just feeling a bit peeved over being turned down on renting a shop on Stilehall Parade.I guess it a matter of perceptions!!

Philip - the concern you raise is valid and I was discussing it just yesterday evening at the eco-village.  However I do think local pubs are important meeting points/ community hubs and I have friends who will go to the pub and enjoy a soft drink.Anyhow, given its opening night, I think I may pop down for a beer before closing.....best, Andrew

Good news for everyone? why is there a shortage of places selling 'legal' but dangerously  addictive drugs in this area.Nothing personal against Pub or Publican, but it is a different perspective.
