Is this fraud?
New records of MP's expense claims have been released today,http://news.parliament.uk/2009/12/new-data-on-members-allowances-published-online/and from these it can been seen that Ann Keen claimed second home expenses as recently as 30th January 2009, and for periods that went up to 31st March 2009. In order to make these claims Ann Keen signed a declaration reading: "I confirm that I incurred these costs wholly, exclusively and necessarily to enable me to stay overnight from my only or main home for the purpose of performing my duties as a Member of Parliament."Given that it was established during the squatting incident that Mrs Keen had been staying away from her Brook Road South home as a result of a dispute with builders since late 2008, declaring the expenses incurred after that time as wholly and exclusively for the purpose of performing her duties as a Member of Parliament was surely a case of knowingly making false declarations in order to receive money from the public purse.
