Christmas bin collection

I've just looked on the LB Hounslow website to find out the days for rubbish collection after Christmas. It just says on bank holidays it will be one day later than normal.  Can this be correct ?  There's usually a time table of collection days.

The calendar is not as easy to find as it might be (and of course not available if you don't have access to a computer)- but there is nothing to stop anyone asking the Council or a neighbour (ie best to be proactive and not hang around waiting for info).Also there are two very similar pages on the website - similar because each of them has the same picture on the right hand side although they have different info on them.  The page constructor may know well they are different but I doubt whether other people do - we're all time-poor. I pointed this out to the Council months ago.

There are crews out, it's the poor Posties I feel for, the pavements are awful and they carry tremendous amounts now, so far we've not seen ours.

Rubbish and recycling collectionsSnow fall may affect today's waste and recycling collections. If your waste or recycling are not collected from your road please leave them out, on the front boundary of your property, clearly visible from the road, and the waste and recycling crews will catch up any missed collections. Remember that waste and recycling collections are due one day late this week due to the catch up from Christmas.

No one got a new calendar - it's a cost saving measure, which is great unless you don't have a computor.

Thanks for all your replies.  I have seen the calendar on the Council's website now but I am sure it wasn't there when I posted back in December.  Our road was a complete mess this morning lots of people putting rubbish out overnight and bags split open and nothing will be collected until tomorrow.  That'll be great if it snows tonight !! Roll on Spring.

Even my neighbours who usually get the right collection day have put their rubbish out today.  Moi?  I follow the forum, of course!  :-)

I downloaded the calender from the Council website so I know that tomorrow is the revised collection day. I didn't receive a delivered calander for this quarter from the Council and, looking at the rubbish on the pavement, neither did other residents.JL

There is accurate information on the website and we also have it in the Libraries. If you're having problems, I suggest people approach their councillors, who I believe are looking at this.

You can also download the calendar for yourself.  You need to look up when your collection is and then with this is a link to the calendar.

If  you didn't receive a collection calendar for Dec 2009 through to March 2010 you can email recycling@hounslow.gov.uk

As far as I'm aware collections will be as normal until Thursday. There is no collection on Friday. Friday's collection will be the following Monday. For the next 2 weeks your collection day will be a day late. I stand to be corrected if that's wrong.

I received a new collection calendar a few weeks ago. The normal collection here is Wednesday, and it's showing the next 3 collections as Wed 23rd, Thu 31st and Thu 7th, then back to Wednesdays after that.

Ealing are collecting a day early this week, which is causing havoc and likely to mean rubbish left on the streets for days; good job it'll all be frozen!

We recently received a new timetable showing the alternating plastic/garden-waste collections and that showed changes for bank holidays; basically, a day later than normal.

I didn't see any timetable in the local papers last week, we miss the bank holidays this year, but what chaos it was for us when our collection day fell on them. I pity the poor souls who will get it this year.

After all the messing around last year, I thought we had got it straight - if your collection is on a bank holiday, you miss it for that week?  Are we going back to the old system again?  The one which worked perfectly well until somebody thought they should fiddle around with it?  :-(
