Wonderful A&E at West Mid.

I unfortunately had occasion to have to go to A&E this morning, having taken a book to prepare for a long wait to be seen you can imagine my suprise when I saw the Triage nurse within 15 minutes! Then it was off to see the Minor injuries physio - seen immediately -given good examination and advice, very strong painkillers provided and out - all within 50 minutes! Granted it wasn't busy but where else in the world could you get this sort of treatment and not have to cough up before anyone would see you? By the way I shall NEVER sneer at a football player again when they roll over in agony.

Yep - they played the 999 call on the TV news, moron doesn't even come near does it?

I think you have to take into account how many time wasters turn up at A&E depts. one way and another. You only have to hear some of the total pillocks who 'phoned the Emergency Services over the Christmas holidays for totally trivial things to understand how pushed they sometimes become. I still haven't got over the dipstick who dialed 999 to complain that her cat was annoying her playing with some wool!!!

I was surprised by the service my wife got when she cut her arm in the garden. One look at the blood and they took her straight through to the surgery and patched her up with injections and stitches. All within 30 minutes and no need to return.JL

Last time I had to go to West Mid it was approx 7am. I was in and out and at work before 9 with my arm in plaster.

When it is running well the A&E is superb. As are the local ambulance crews.Can't say the same for GP's and the admin though, very patchy.

Thank-you, Yes, I was lucky but for all the moans and groans we hear about it our NHS is amazing. I fear I will have to be referred to an Orthopod now from what I was told, but at least the painkillers are kicking in so I can walk a little easier, climbing the stairs and driving will take a bit more effort!

Glad you got a good service, it's a bit of a roulette at West Mid, I've been seen in under an hour there before, but heaven help you if you hurt yourself over the weekend! (think my longest wait was 7 hours.)Hope you're feeling better after your strong painkillers *hug*
