I can't fathom out how to scan the last Conservatives leaflets - the glossy one from Mary Macleod and the paper one from the local Cllrs.  We have had another two leaflets dropped through our door and the one from the three Cllrs is far better, reflecting their hard work on the ground, so to speak.  The last one just did not detail their hard work and even had a blank side!  (big mistake ... nothing to say?)It is just possible that what is going to swing things this time is the individuals work and representation of the people of the borough - and sod the main party they are attached to.

No vote is wasted, its called democracy. Some people would never vote Tory but feel they can't vote AK.

By all accounts Andrew Dakers is a fine young manHowever a vote for Andrew is a wasted vote as he has no hope of getting elected. The Lib Dems are simply to far behind. Last time around the Lib Dem vote split the anti-Labour vote and so Ann Keen was elected. This time the Conservative candidate is much stronger, the Conservative Party is much stronger, Labour is much weaker and Ann Keen is totally discredited. A vote for Andrew Dakers is worse than a wasted vote. it is effectively a vote for Labour and could risk us having yet another disasterous Labour Government.

We received an Osterley and Spring grove newsletter and the Mary Macleod glossy, today.  Both surprisingly poor, IMHO, especially as this information at this time is so important.  Bit of a disappointment really.I can't work out how to reduce the 'glossy one' to scan it to show you and the scanning for the Osterley & Spring Grove isn't readable for some reason ... anyone else able to scan and post them?

I want a Labour Govt. I just cannot bear the thought of the Bullingdon rich kids especially after what I've read about slimy Dave and 'Oik' George this week, but I really do not want to give my vote to AK so there's quandary.

A candidate will usually do a stint in an unwinnable seat first, like Tony Blair trying for Beaconsfield, before going on to a safer seat.  Lady Macleod tried for her unwinnable up in the Highlands in 1997, lost it, then tried her luck at a number of safe Tory seats getting rebuffed each time.  I think she even moved out of Brentford & Isleworth to go and live in Kensington where she wanted to be the MP but they didn't want her so now she's back!! Really it doesn't say a lot about her commitment to the area.

Sue berates a Mary Mcleod PPC for previously endeavouring to stand as a PPC in other areas. If Sue researched this matter she would quickly establish that many current MP's and PPC's have gone through the same competitive process. By way of example K&C had in excess of 100 applicants. We picked her as a first class candidate. Her subsequent hard work and commitment confirmed our excellent choice.We picked the best candidate. Sue may wish to comment on the  mysterious machinations of the Labour Party in their selection, of amongst other things, candidates for their perceived, so called LBH Ward 'safe seats'. The names Ellar and Chatt come to mind.

I like Mary and think she would be a damn good MP but the likes of Thompson and Reid on this Council have lost her any chance of winning so my money is on Andrew Dakers as a clear winner. Labour are well and truly foooooked and the results should be embarrassing for them but they won't be as those people know no shame.

Steph, that's one of them, personally I liked the one with the line 'F*** off back to Eton'. There's a double page spread re the the slimy one in today's 'Mirror', not very flattering at all.

Gordon Brown fought Edinburgh South in 1979 and lost to Michael Ancram.  He then switched to Dunfermline East in order to get elected in 1983.  You regard that as a chicken-run action, do you?

Wikopedia'Ann Keen stood for the Brentford & Isleworth seat in 1987 and 1992 though was unsuccessful on both occasions. For the 1997 election she was again selected, on this occasion through an all-women shortlist. This method of selection was declared unlawful in January 1996 as it breached sex discrimination laws.'Didn't she do well.

No SueWe dont need to pay for deliveries  We all volunteer to deliver leaflets in each others Wards / Constituencies. Great way of learning the area out of my Ward tooWe fund too as we cant use our (publicly funded) communication allowance like another.Many PPC;s are unsuccessful in the selection process. You weren't very successful last time endevouring to become a Cllr. Did Labour then make a mistake in selecting you?

Tim,Do you reckon the Tories are using paid distributors for some parts of the constituency (e.g. where they are weak?) It's just that I'm sure the feature said Lady Macleod spends £2000 on each monthly print run, so if you're only getting one a quarter clearly they've got delivery problems."And the impression was that it was struggling to find content to fill all the pages."Well, what have they got to say? All they're offering is fox hunting and public service cuts. Still, suppose they could carry an article about all the other seats Mary has tried to get elected for! o)-

I couldn't quite work out whether it was Jim Lawes himself amongst Mary's posse of leaflet deliverers. I suppose it would be good exercise and it stops his accountant complaining about him spending too much time at brentfordtw8.I can't say that I have suffered from a "veritable blizzard of leaflets" - if you'd ask me to guess, I'd reckon I'd had one in the last three months. And the impression was that it was struggling to find content to fill all the pages.
