Boot camp arrives in brentford!

I signed up today for Gym In The Park in Chiswick and they are starting in Brentford on tuesday and thursday evening next week, have a look at their web site www.gyminthepark.co.uk. Also slightly intrigued by whether this is 'legal' - it's one thing for a group of kids to have a kickabout in a park (although quite possibly contrary to a local by-law) but another to run a commercial enterprise from a Council owned piece of land without the appropriate consents.  Clarification perhaps required...

Well I do indirectly know Andrew and can sort of vouch for him as a personal trainer, as he's been doing it for many years.The concept of the average Joe Bloggs paying £40 - £50 per hour for a personal training session totally escapes me though - some people must be incredibly dumb/lazy if they can't work out their own realistic training schedule and a healthy diet.

Hi Stephanie,Thank you for your response to the topic as responses are taken in to account. At the moment we are trialing the sessions at 2 a week in brentford and if the response is good we will increase the number of classes accordingly. At the moment the proposed sessions amounts to 8 a month which works out at £6.88 a session and that doesn't include if you wanted to come to any of the other locations. (All locations are included in the price) As for the comparison to the other entities this is very different. Gym In The Park is like personal training on a bigger scale.(normal cost of pt in brentford £40-£50 per hour) We are very particular about exercise technique and clients well being. Basically you have a lot of attention were as within a gym environment you are left to your own devices. Trust me I have worked within some of the top names in fitness and exercise correction is appalling. we offer support and advice on nutrition and motivation YOU ARE NOT A NUMBER! most of all the sessions are fun and enjoyable and a great way to meet people and bring communities together. Well if some of the money was going back into the park that'd be less cheeky, but I still think it's a bit steep. They're charging £55 a month for 2 sessions a week I think it was. My sister-in-laws private gym in Chiswick charges £50 a month for unlimited gym access, pool use, classes and a trainer. Hounslow's leisure center gyms (Brentford, Feltham etc.) charge £37 a month for unlimited gym access, classes and the pool.Maybe I'm just being a skinflint, if it works for you and you think it's a reasonable price then fabulous, just so happens that my personal opinion is that it isn't. Each to their own I s'pose.

Councils take the view that these companies make money out of the use of parks and beaches so why shouldn't they as they maintain them.

Seems a bit rich to charge as much as the average gym when you're using a public park... :/

Hello Brentford! thanks Sara for spreading the word around about Gym In The Park. We are coming to Brentford so if you are interested in a Free trial session please do not hesitate to come along and give it a try. We are very different from a Boot camp in the sense we approach exercise from a personal training prospective. This is very big in OZ. Local councils have started charging companies for using parks and beaches.
