"the regeneration of the High Street ... will not see the complete bulldozing of the existing fabric" ?Well the Brewery Tap and Town Wharf will be retained at the western end, the church will be retained at the eastern end, and a building or two on the High Street. Everything else would in fact be bulldozed. The area has always been traditionally the home to small industries, such as were the backbone of Brentford's existence. All these under the new scheme would be destroyed, effectively removing the last trace of the town's historical character. They will be replaced largely by yet more housing, and a duplication of such retail services as the centre is already well served by.
