Or, from a commercial point of view, isn't it simply common sense from a business perspective to ensure you don't accidentially define your 'catchment' area to a specific town ?. Barratt Homes is based in Brentford for example, but it is their West London region, Baratt Brentford would not only sound stupid it would indirectly 'narrow' their catchement area. Secondly, Gillette Corner is a long way from Brentford Town centre anyway. If I owned a large company with several regional offices within London and it was adjacent to the A4 I'd call it West London, if I owned a small one off business in a site like the Premier Inn I'd call it Brentford. Of course you'll quite rightly point out VW was perfectly content to use Chiswick in its address before it relocated ;-)
