Keen at her finest

I was witness this morning to Ann Keen arriving in a mini bus (charged to the taxpayer I expect) at the Bridgelink Centre on the Ivybridge Estate and although I thought I had seen it all with this woman today I was truly gobsmackedHer small entourage then stood aside as she stood in front of the Community Centre posing for photographs with a couple of fawning fans but would not speak to other residents who wanted to raise issues with her as she only had fifteen minutes to get the pictures taken!!Perhaps Alan had called and told her to get back to Waterloo quick and not associate with the riff raff in Isleworth as she has lost all support so we are not worth bothering with?I guess we will have to look forward to another election campaign with her running scared of actually engaging with the people she will expect to vote for her and treating them with her usual contempt.I heard once that if Keen heard that an envelope was about to be opened she would trample over everyone to get the first photo and today’s events seemed to confirm that.

How would you differentiate the style of English and standards of decency and respect which you employ in your internet postings and on your blogsite, especially the recent post you have drawn attention to, as compared with the style used by Mr Dakers?How much emphasis do you place on enhancing, rather than bringing into disrepute - even further, the standing of local representatives/politicians.If the answer is high on all counts, then how did you arrive at that assessment? Nic,Tony Blier since leaving power in 2007 has earned an additional Twenty Million Pounds whilst representing the West as Envoy for the Middle East a part of what he has aquired is a Million Pounds Consulting for Kuwait on Oil Issues also earned lot's more Consulting on Oil Issues for North Korea and it was kept secret because of the delicacy of the business consultation!!! by our government for 20 month's. Now surely that must come under a "conflict of interest", the man has no shame, our lads are fighting a war that he lied about to get us in and he's making bloody millions out of Oil Consultation, What??? can you expect from Labour expect nothing and we will not be disappointed. I see "gordy" is to give Minister's a yearly contract that is so he can get rid of Alistair Darling and put Ed Ball's into the Treasury crafty bar-steward he must think that we the voter's are stupid, a vote for Labour is a vote for Republicanism not Demorcracy.

As one who voted for the original nulabor Blair project  after being seduced by the spin, I feel particularly aggrieved by the feeding at troughs by people who claim to represent us ordinary voters. I changed my vote once it became apparent that all they did was pass thousands of useless laws and lavish future generations standard of living on a bloated public sector (particularly themselves).I have worked in a voluntary capacity for many years and find it repugnant when apparently civic minded people actually feather their own nestNic

An interesting by-product of the minimum wage is an increasing number of young people working for nothing. My son wants a career in advertising but was shocked to find that ad agencies are now employing significant numbers of young graduates for 6 months or more at a time on zero wage - which is of course legal although paying them anything less than the legal wage is not. The youngsters do it for the experience, to get work with a good firm on their cv. This side effect of the minimum wage may be good for the employers but it is not a happy situation for the graduates.

I ahve never understood why the minimum wage for young people is lower.  Do they eat less?

The minimum wage is 5.80 per hr. for over 22s, 4.83 if you are 18 -21 and 3.57 if under 18 and not of compulsory school age. It is worth remembering there was no minimum wage until the Labour Government brought it in. I seem to recall industry fat cats forecasting the end of civilisation as we knew it if this was made law. Basically they just wanted to go on exploiting people.
