The Bill
Now for something completely different - no politics! The Bill - it has been announced, is to be axed after 25 years, I really do think that the 'Tristrams' that are in charge of T.V. programming have once again gone mad. I have watched The Bill for years nad enjoy it very much, it has a beginning, a middle and an end, it entertains and informs. But over the last few years it has been moved, re-vamped (supposedly) and generally buggered about with. A football match on? - oh goody let's cancel this week's episode, then we'll start culling familiar and popular characters, then we'll move it to another day and only show it once a week, that should really do for it. There is so much tripe on television even with all the channels we have now, The Bill - I would venture to suggest - was an oasis of normality, reliable and comfortable with the ability to portray real people in real situations. What with dozy Crozier about to descend on ITV with his axe, and people in fear of their jobs you have to wonder where it will all end. R.I.P.
