ICG Manifest

On starting to read the ICG manifesto I got as far as the second paragraph where Cllr Andrews states: "Politicians who stroll into a neighbourhood they've never set foot in, bold as brass, and tell people they've never met what they're going to do for them" - does Cllr Andrews include the ICG candidates standing in Hounslow South amongst these kinds of politicians as none of them live in the ward. "Their impertinence and arrogance" leaves him speechless, perhaps Cllr Andrews would like to note that ALL three Conservative councillors live in the ward and have done for many years.

Well, Ian, you say that now but at the time the ICG claimed they were "in it to win it".Only after they were crushed did they claim it was "just a side show".And btw., the fact that Phil was not well known enough outside Isleworth was, I would contend, to his distinct advantage.

Paul,I'm reliably informed that Ann has been getting a fantastic response all over Isleworth.You're just bitter because she gave the ICG such a thoroughly good pasting in the last General Election.

Robin   I don't really want to give anyone a poke in the eye per se,I do have a problem with political hypocrisy,and "well" people who are basically trying to con the electorate,so if I think I see it,I shout about it. Sometimes I get shouted back at,that's OK,it's allowed,BUT oftentimes the silence is deafening,then you know you're onto something!  The ICG (Independent CommunityChest Group)is always a good starting point though,they're 'always' up to something!

Have you read the Hounslow Times this morning Robin and the many attempts that a reporter has tried to speak to Ann Keen over the last six months?The answer is zero as she has again gone in to hibernation and is too much of a coward to explain herselfAll over Isleworth and Syon where we have canvassed she is despised even by traditional Labour supporters and I can honestly see her finishing in third place on May 6th despite your efforts from outside the Borough Good riddance to her

Mind you, Tony, some of the ICG mob have been cosying up to Lib Dem candidate Andrew Dakers (other ICG-ites favour Mary Macleod). If you really want to give the ICG a well deserved poke in the eye, the only way to do it is to vote for Phil's arch nemesis - Ann Keen.

Mary is a much better candidate - in every respect!Andrew Dakers, a nice guy now 30 plus has yet to leave the security of the luxurious Butts family  home. He needs to move on - get real-and quickly. A 'sheer romantic' in political terms. His earlier proposed LBH budget was poorly costed and lacked credibility.His one- man- band style of Leadership of the  LBH Lib -Dem Councillors colleagues quickly  led to one Clr  jumping ship asap post election, one changing party and the rest standing down after 4 years of relative Lib Dem back - bench silence.Mary dynamic career-enormous energy and commitment. Experienced and credible.As the Lib Dem manifesto indicates their financials simply don't add up. Described as  'Fancy Economics'by expertsTax cuts of 17 billion yet the poor remain poor. A £20,000 a year new tax on big houses too! Hope the Butts properties stall in price otherwise  Andrew's neighbours wont be thrilled to find a new tax of £80k over 4 years. A Lib- Dem vote is a wasted vote.

For starters , Manifesto is spelt thus. Who needs Politicians ? is a rhetorical question like Juvenal's Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? As previously said , the leaflet clearly draws the distinction between ' independent non-aligned politicians' and the major parties. How does Chris square his criticism of the elected Genevieve Hibbs with the position of the unelected Lord Mandelson in his party?

Sorry James/Dawn/Phil,Not sure what you mean about one of my "Cranford Councillors"I live in Isleworth. For the benefit of forum readers I suggest you google electoral wards, or buy a map which may explain local geography to you. For your benefit, Pakistan is to the North West of India,borders Afghanistan and was created after Indian independance in 1948. It was formerly East and West Pakistan, although East Pakistan is now a seperate country called Bangladesh.

Same one I saw Vanessa. I also seem to think that one of the ICG Councillors actually lives in Hillingdon, and has done since she was elected eight years ago. I understand that Genevieve Hibbs is unwell and wish her well, bit rich from the ICG to say that people who wish to represent a ward live in the ward, when one of their elected members does'nt even live in the Borough!

Hoist on their own petard there I think. I've just this minute had their latest missive shoved though my door, entitled 'Who needs politicians'. Should be done under the Trades Descriptions Act for misrepresentation. This is deliberately misleading the electorate.

Are the Woodland street barriers in Hounslow South ward? Sorry if they are not but I seem to recall the ICG playing a leading part in this debate even when the streets in question were represented by other councillors.  That was several years ago, it didn't begin during the present election campaign.Then of course there is the thorny question of Mogden. As a Hounslow South councillor Brad can you tell us how you voted on that topic, which I believe affects thousands of your own constituents?
