Labour and Conservatives should launch joint campaign against ICG

Everyone is complaining about the ICG campaign but can we do anything to counter it in the three weeks left to us before the general election?  I would like to suggest a joint approach by the normal parties with an agreed line on both their leaflets and at the doors.  A joint press statement or web article would be a good way forward.  Can this be agreed or does the animosity between the two major parties run too deep?

Perhaps David could remind us of what contribution he made to the Tory campaign the last time there was a by-election in Hounslow South.Something to do with the political background of one of the ICG's leading lights, unless I'm mistaken?

Of course you'd know this - the man who didn't have one good word to say about the ICG until they started licking the rear ends of your bloody Tories, and much good it'll do them.

Labour has never forgiven the ICG for winning council seats in wards the Labour Party long regarded as its own private property.The ICG is in coalition with the Conservatives on Hounslow Council. The coalition has worked well, improved local services, cut waste and frozen the Council tax for 4 years. That's much more than Labour achieved in 40 years..I am sure that the Conservatives have no intention whatsover of campaigning with the Labour Party against the ICG.The ICG is not standing in the parliamentary election this time. That allows ICG supporters to make up their own independent minds who to support. However I doubt if many of them will vote Labour !

On the contrary, it seems to be between the ICG and the Tories now. Is it true Labour are advising their supporters to make a tactical vote for the Tories?

I see, so the ICG's agenda is to talk the Tories up in the critical Hounslow South Ward.Clearly, the ICG want the Tories to stay in power.No change there then.

I think Neil and others on this thread may have misunderstood the agenda of "Martin Muir".Martin might be genuine, but I suspect what he may be doing is pretending to be an opponent of the ICG yet using the classic ICG propaganda line that the two main parties are ganging up on them.If memory serves me right, a similar thing happened in the local press some years ago, when an alleged Labour activist called "James Goram" wrote in urging Labour to conduct a campaign of dirty tricks against the ICG - on the grounds that "if you throw enough mud, some of it will stick".Well, nobody in the Labour Party had ever heard of "James Goram", but the words he used were still seized upon by the ICG as evidence of Labour intending to mount a campaign of dirty tricks (this despite the fact that it was probably the ICG that invented "James Goram" in the first place).This sort of ICG trickery comes as no surprise to anyone who has observed their tactics.
