Consultation on the night flights regime for the next five years should kick off at the end of this year I think.Progress on the mitigation measures supposedly introduced by BAA as part of the last review has been woefully slow.

I certainly agree that the freeze on flights between  22:00h and 06:00h should be reinstated

My main irritation is the chipping away at the quiet periods of the night. I'm sure the noisy landings every morning at 0430 weren't taking place when I bought the house in 1980.Hopefully the swingeing increase in flight costs when APD is levied per plane and the climate change costs are built into the ticket costs (and aviation fuel has VAT applied) might reduce demand. Gatwick getting its act together and initiatives like the Emirates A380 to Dubai directly servicing Manchester will also be useful in stopping Heathrow overheating.

Did you not think that the Airport might get busier and expand over the years.Look, all I'm saying is that if you move next to a Farm expect smells, move next to a Station expect Trains and live under a flight path...

Harley,we ALL have the right to complain.Can you not grasp that the noise pollution has increased radically because the people who are charged with looking after our interests in fact, are looking after big business airline/airport interests instead. Routing millions of transfer passenger through our airspace with no need or benefit to those they disturb below.For example, after they got rid of Concorde, which was a loud noise a couple of times a day, they replaced each flight with 50 or 100 almost as intrusive ones because their noise model said it was OK.The fact that you "don't get it" is only a reflection on you.This is the Brentford Forum and EVERYONE in Brentford is badly affected by the landings. Except the deaf, perhaps.

Anthony,The fact you (and your family) were here before Heathrow gives you the right to complain - and I wouldn't blame you for doing so.I just don't get it when people who choose - and that's the important word - choose to live nearby then complain... didn't they know that Planes bring noise and pollution?

Actually my family have lived in this area, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Isleworth and Brentford for 3 generations and long before Heathrow.it's the only international airport with approaches over a major conurbation and really grew too quickly for this to be accounted for.It blights millions with noise and in fact it is often worse in Chiswick, Putney and Wandsworth.The noise fallout reaches way beyond the flight pathsI have made a living from LHR but that does not mean I have to support it.The damage it does has really been brought home to me these last few days.it is nuts to have it expanded and have air traffic approaching over so many people and infra structure both on safety and envirionmental grounds.

Nic,My business is loosely associated with the Airport and as a consequence I moved from peacefully quiet Church Crookham knowing full well of the potential risks associated with being so close to LHR.When I asked a couple of years ago 'who was there first, the Airport or the residents?' I was pilloried by the Chiswick /Brentford smart Alecs who seem to think that they must be the only people on the planet who can buy a house within 4000 feet of a fully laden 747 but have some right to be excluded from any noise.I wouldn't want that level of disturbance, so guess what... I didn't buy a house on Heathrow approach.

Harley,a nasty reply, I presume you work in airline industry so benefit from the noise misery to millions.What I actually believe is the MOT should measure aircraft  noise and disturbance in a fair and representative way rather than the bullshit so called model they use. Since I moved under the flight path, the number of flights has radically increased causing misery to so many.If you look at other noise making activities such as motor race tracks, their activities HAVE been severely curtailed when housing developments built nearby, so yes, I do want LHR moved to someplace appropriate.So take your nastiness someplace else.

Margaret, you wouldn't believe it but some people are so arrogant that they believe that if THEY move to a home under the flightpath the Aircraft noise should cease.

Unbelievably I was unable to get a seat on the tube as per bloody usual this morning , which just shows that even without the Heathrowites we are sold short on our tube service.

It's absolutely fantastic. So quiet, you can actually hear the church bell striking in the evening, birds singing, kids playing and strangely, apart from 999 sirens hardly any traffic noise.It just goes to show that even when we are not being subjected to flights landing the noise of aircraft movement at LHR has an effect.I cannot ever remember it being so peaceful and quiet here in 50 years.Maybe an estuary airport is not such a bad idea after all.

I bet the quiet is deafening! If I lived there now I would be heading for Kew Gardens or some such beauty spot and enjoy the views without the noise.
