I was wondering whether you would be in a position to answer my earlier post requesting details of the "pressure" applied by Mary Macleod on Thames Water to reduce odour that I read about on your latest glossy? Thanks." Be fair. Cllr Todd went to the 'open day' at Mogden on Saturday. It was an expensive day with Thames Water barracking the road from the gate to the Admin Block with Crowd Control Barriers. Obviously they didn't want visitors wondering off to see things for themselves. The 7 to 10 Mogden staff obviously had to be supplemented by drafting in many, many staff from other Thames facilities along with wives and children to make it a fun day out for staff, families and friends. Possibly some of the £12million pocketed by Thames by not covering all the storm tanks with the money Ofwat gave them in 2005 has finally been put to good use by paying for this event? I think its called PR. Refreshments and biscuits were served in a huge marquee and several buses were hired to take interested parties around the site. Not the odorous parts mind you, because people don't really want to smell raw sewage, but all the parts which had been freshly mowed and litter, beer cans, shopping trolleys and dead ducks had all been cleared from the canal. It looked wonderful. The daffodils were all out and it was surely a sight to behold and remember for years to come. The normal mess of 'builders rubble' near the Oak Lane back entrance had been beautifully tidied up and everything was stacked and stored as one may expect from a 'blue chip' company. The whole day was no doubt equally as entertaining for some of the Thames staff, who had never been to Mogden before, but were probably very happy to get the overtime pay, as the few members of the public who wanted to see and meet the people responsible for the environmental nuisance that blights Hounslow and Richmond continually. Whilst this fun and entertainment was going on at Mogden, a resident phoned Thames Water's Director of Environment and External Affairs and asked him to pop over to his house for a cup of tea, whilst he was in the area, so he could discuss progress on complaints he had made to Mogden's management over the last 6 months. Unfortunately the Thamesman said he was too busy with all the visitors but he would be happy to have one of the juniors visit the resident sometime this week.
