Wierd Leaflet from Ann Keen
After years of receiving nothing from Ann Keen or the Labour Party,we finally received a small A5 size leaflet from her yesterday. One page is devoted totally to her position on hunting which somewhat wierd as hunting is not exactly a major issue in Brentford and Isleworth. In addition it is not a party political issue as any future votes on this issue would be on a free vote basis - unwhipped. The second page is devoted to the Labour Government's record on Animal Welfare.Since 1997, there have certainly been improvements regarding welfare - not only in the UK but in the EU as a whole. I am quite sure that such measures would have been introduced by any Government- whether the Conservatives (with their strong rural base and support from farmers and animals lovers), Liberal Democrat (another party with support in rural areas)or Labour (a predominantly urban party). I fail to see what credit Mrs Keen is trying to claim for this.It is noteworthy that Mrs Keen's leaflet does not mention Hunting and Killing Innocent Iraqi Civilians, the National Debt, the Labour Government's Record Deficit, Rising Unemployment, Rising Taxation, the NHS, Education, Immigration, the Incompetence of Gordon Brown, the Lisbon Treaty or a host of other issues which could be loosely grouped under the heading Human Welfare.Perhaps Mrs Keen has given up on persuading ordinary human beings for voting for her and is concentrating on winning the endorsement of fringe groups such as the Animal Liberation Front.Maybe the Animal Liberation Front is funding her campaign ?Perhaps she will explain herself at the Hustings at Christ Church Turnham Green, Chiswick at 730 pm on Friday
