"Councillor Andrews comments: “These cards are clearly designed to give the recipient the impression that a canvasser called, when the truth is either that Labour couldn’t be bothered to knock on doors and speak to residents or that they in such dire straits that they no longer have the manpower or support to be able to do it."Talk about "dire straits", the Minutes of the ICG AGM make clear that the ICG themselves do not have the leafleting resources that they claim. When one member asked why no ICG leaflets had gone out in Hounslow South since 2006, Phil Andrews was quoted as saying that "it was simply a case of prioritising areas that we will be contesting at the next local elections and a lack of manpower." “We know that they have been doing some genuine canvassing in parts of the ward but this is just deceitful”.How on earth can Phil Andrews, of all people, accuse Labour of being deceitful? On the Chiswick Forum a couple of months ago, I asked him about the fictitious "M Mehta", an Asian name which the ICG had created in the 1990s for the purpose of writing letters to the local press defending the ICG and the BNP. Unable to deny this fact, he simply became abusive.Accusations of deceit carry no credibility when they emanate from the ICG.
