Twisted Lie in Labour leaflet

Keen's latest leaflet shows a supposed 2005 election result that shows the ' Lib Dems can't win. ' The impression is clearly intended to indicate the position in Brentford & Isleworth in the last constituency . The figures ( 35.3 %Labour , 32.3% Tory and 22.1% Lib Dem) are false. The actual percentages as per Wikipedia are as follows : Labour 39.8, Con 30.2, LD 22.8 Clearly on these figures , it would be possible for Andrew Dakers to take 9% out of Keen's 39.8% and win without the Tories gaining or losing a vote. Keen's leaflet is clearly intended to make the Tories look stronger and thus a switch to the Libe Demas riskier than it actually is If they can lie about this , what else can they lie about ?

As you very well Know they were investigated and Cleared off any wrong doings and was not ordered to pay it back!!When is the Tories going to stop taking money from Ashcroft and strip him off his peerage?

David - we are halfway through polling day - could you not give it a rest now and perhaps apply yourself to something a tad more stimulating?  maybe the thread ..."A quiet SPACE where I could intensively REHEARSE singing at least 12 hours daily to record my DEMO"Kind regards, bestest, cheers and whatever.PS I am surprised that the medicine companies have not brought out a 'topical' headache pill for the elections!

As I said in my first post Ian I have received (through the post) the most mailshots from the Lib Dems out of any party - 4 yesterday alone and typically 2/3 a week over the last month.I wouldn't vote Lib Dem just because of that now (although I wasn't going to anyway) - total hypocrisy in my view...we are the party that want to save the planet, god help you if you hope to drive a big car under our policies, but come election time we'll use as much paper as we possibly can.Interesting point re. theft of personal correspondence - all the mailboxes for each flat are individually locked with only the owner/occupier having a key, plus there's monitored CCTV cameras pointing directly at the mailboxes (as they are positioned near an entrance door) so as long as the postie can be relied on I feel pretty safe...must admit before living here I'd never lived in a flat/development complex and now I can't imagine going back to a 'normal' house.

Coming from someone whose prime candidate for mayor in 2000 ended up in prison that is rich . Also Jonathan Aitken , Neil Hamilton , etc.

Sounds like bad organisation to me - they should have got to you before anyway. Have to say I would never live somewhere where the postie couldn't get to my front door as it makes theft of personal correspondence more likely.

And here we go again :-(  Tonight a member of the Lib Dem team arrived at our development, handed our concierge a massive (200 plus) bundle of Lib Dem mailshots, and asked him to deliver them to each property within the development.  Needless to say the concierge refused to circulate them, and one of the main reason I live here is to ensure leaflet distributors can't put stuff under my front door, so the Lib Dem guy couldn't either, and thus our concierge currently has this massive bundle of mailshots sat on his desk, and they will go straight in the recycling bin tomorrow.What an absolute waste of paper from the candidate that tries to make a big play of his commitment to green issues :-(

SarahI agree. The Lib Dems don't seem to understand the meaning of the word  illegal.But there again, the Lib Dems took £2 million in donations from a convicted fraudsters and have not paid it back.

I am with Steve (LBC) Allen on this one - what part of illegal don't they understand?Defining the use of 'immigrants' would help us to understand the figures being banded about.Come on play those policies chaps and stop undermining them.

Nick Clegg claimed in last week's Leaders' Debate that 80% of immigrants come from within the EU. It turns out that the correct figure is nearer 40%.

Rob, All figures are open to interpretation, I would not doubt you for a minute about who is telling the most porkies, having been on the receving end of them for many years.

IanWe were promised a referendeum by all three parties on Treaty of Lisbon but that promise was broken by Labour and the Lib Dems.The parties may well promise us a referendum on joining the euro, but can we trust them to keep their promises ?Can we trust Nick Clegg on Europe given his past as an European Commission civil servant and as an MEP ?Tony Blair promised not to increase income tax but Gordon Brown broke that promise and is now also increasing National Insurance.

Maybe , but going forward we will not join the Euro without a referendum and we will not have a referendum on Lisbon. Is this not the policy of all 3 parties ?

Of course there should have been a referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon. Labour, the Lib Dems and the Conservatives all promised us one. However the so called Lib Dems voted with Labour in favour of the Treaty without submitting it to a referendum, thuis betraying their pledge and their claims to be Liberals and Democrats. The Conservatives voted against the Treaty thus honouring their pledge to the electorate.The EU and the euro is going through a rather torrid time at the moment - which is probably the reason why the Liob Dems and Labour do not want to remind us of their previous support for Britain to join the euro. If we had followed Tony Blair's and the Lib Dems' advice and joined the euro, this country would now be in a similar position to Greece and there would be riots on the streets and demands to leave the EU.

Talking of leaflets, I wish the Lib Dems would still filling my postbox with their mailings.  Given Andrew often harps on about his support for all things green (other than the Green Party) I find it pretty disgusting that today I have recieved not one, not two, not three but FOUR separate mailshots from the local Lib Dem bunch, and during the whole election build-up they are by far 'ahead' in terms of the number of mailshots (typically 2 a week) that I have recieved.  If I was minded to vote Lib Dem (which I am not) then being bombarded with mailshots would only make me reconsider.Roll on Friday when hopefully for a while I don't have to bin all this drivel again...

IanIanIt does not surprise me that Labour is using misleading statistics. Labour does this all the time from Gordon Brown down.The Lib Dems also use bogus statistics as exemplified by Nick Clegg's claim that 80% of immigrants come from the EU whereas the true figure is closer to 40%.Ann Keen is going to lose votes big time but they won't all be going to Andrew Dakers. All the indications are that there is a large swing from Labour straight to the Conservatives. This is not surprising as Andrew Dakers is essentially running as a Green candidate and is only campaign on local issues- as if he were running for Council.At the Chiswick Hustings last Friday night he came over as well meaning but parochial and naive.This allows him to avoid mentioning national Lib Dem policies that may not go down well in Brentford such as an amnesty for illegal immigrants, adopting the euro, voting for the Treaty of Lisbon, 50% Capital Gains Tax, legalisation of drugs,local income tax, raising taxation in general etc.Harold Macmillan once said something to the effect: The Liberals have some sound and original ideas. The trouble is that their sound ideas are borrowed from someone else and their original ideas are barmy.

No it isn't, Vanessa.You see, it's Ian who is lying: the leaflet is referring to the national vote at the last general election. The bar chart makes no reference to the Brentford & Isleworth constituency.Ian is, by the way, supporting ICG liar Paul Fisher, who accused me of stirring racial tensions just because I took a call on my mobile from Al Ayobi. In my conversation with Al Ayobi, the race issue was not even mentioned, proving that Fisher & the ICG are liars.
