Hello Sarah, it is a lovely family house on the Northumberland Estate a short stroll from Syon Lane station, or quick jog, if you are late for the train!Another advantage of picking the train up at Syon Lane is the availability of seats which are quickly filled at Brentford and impossible to find by Chiswick.  It is also a short walk to Isleworth BR and to the Great West road and the main bus networks, and near to Osterley or Boston Manor and Brentford (for Ealing). The area is known as the Northumberland Estate because the land used to belong to the Duke of Northumberland, and was part of His Syon house estate.  Next to the station are maisonettes with large gardens and then there are the family houses from Roxborough Avenue through to Wood Lane, all tied together by Northumberland Avenue. The houses were built on the side of Syon hill over looking Richmond and Twickenham and in the distance across to the Epson Downs which can been seen from some of the houses (one road is called Downs view). If you look at maps of the area for the time (1930’s) many houses had alleys at the back to take away garden rubbish, but the builder here wanted the houses to sit on their own land so they were spaced out with gaps between them and a fence and a side gate.  At the time the extra land to the side made the houses more expensive and he could not sell them – people did not see the need for extra land to the side and very few people had cars or wanted a garage.  Now, because of the want for cars and land the houses have had garages added on and the land allows potential for development into 5, 6 or 7 bed houses.Schools are all local, a short walk.Marlborough nursery, and junior school http://www.marlboroughschool.net/ has been rebuilt in recent years and their play schemes for before/after school/holidays and inset days are one of the longest established and successful schemes in the Borough.  Hounslow has a successful record of after care support and this one has long had a waiting list so they are investing in the building of another community room to expand the scheme.  The de Lacey Montessori School http://www.delaceymontessori.co.uk/  is a few minutes walk away and Ashton House http://www.ashtonhouse.com/ is a local, established private school. The Green school for girls http://thegreenschool.net/page_viewer.asp?page=Home&pid=1 one of the best performing in the country is next to Marlborough and Syon School for boys a couple of roads away (couldn’t find a direct web page for them). There is an active and enthusiastic residents association and we often see the safer neighbourhood teams wandering around. The house for sale has been in the same family since the 1940’s and has a well stocked  English garden, greenhouse and a secret garden with a pond (with newts) garden shed and an additional outside toilet.  It is in need of updating but is neat and maintained.  The back of the house is in full sun most of the day so a remote controlled awning has been added.  It is a traditional three bedded house with side garage and some under floor storage at the back of the house (door from outside).I took these for the owner, last summer. If you want the advert details then please PM me and I will send them to you.  Offers over £385,000.
