STREET dancers from Feltham and the surrounding area emulated the moves of their big screen heroes this week.Solo and group acts flocked to Cineworld on Sunday afternoon for a competition before watching a new themed movie in 3D.The event was organised by cinema deputy general manager Sarah Balus and her team ahead of the first showing of new flick Street Dance 3D.Miss Balus said: "People came along on the day to register, they signed up to perform in the auditorium before the film was featured."It was great, because the sun was out everybody wanted to come out and show their support and all the dancers really enjoyed themselves."Around 50 people came to show their support.The competition was split into two categories, 15 years and under and 16 years and over, with eight acts registering on the day.The Brentford based Alliance Dance Unit were deemed the overall winners by the judges, walking away with a professional photoshoot and make-over for their promotional material.The event was hosted by model and TV presenter Lucy Clarkson and DJ Spinny D provided the soundtrack.The judges were Androulla Erotokritou, a dancer at Pineapple studios, AJ from sponsor Image 1st, and Fudge, the part owner of Prestige Barbers and dancer.As well as celebrating local dancing talent, the special day was a tribute to the feature film, which is a UK production.Miss Balus said: "It is also in support of UK films, often America dominates the film industry and we haven't got too many films that come out of the UK. It is the first British film to come out in 3D so we wanted to get behind it."
