Cameron to tackle kerb crawlers?

David Cameron having belted up north in the wake of the terrible murders to mouth the ususal meaningless platitudes about 'doing something', and that seems to be kerb crawling????? Isn't it about time we decriminalised prostitution? Not for nothing is it known as the oldest profession, and it is well past time that women were given the protection of the law. No law is ever going to stop this, so perhaps if it has anything about it at all this new Government can find the guts to tackle both the daft and increasingly useless legislation on drugs and the wider problems it leads to, of which prostitution is probably the biggest.

If the other problems are so pressing why is he bothering with half arsed sound bit tinkering based on moralistic bigotry. I can't believe the Liberals will support this; if they do, then I guess the term Con-Dems fits the coalition.

Blimey...  give the bloke a chance. He’s only been in the job for 5 mins. As you say Prostitution has been around since the dawn of time and whilst I’m sure we’d all like to see it ‘managed’ he’s got a couple of other more pressing problems in his in tray right now.

Surely saving human lives are high on the agenda of this government, because that's what this is about. Or was it just a good photo opp. for Dave? The Labour Government didn't get to grips with it, but in fairness no bloody government ever has. I doubt any of them have got the guts, yet they should heed the fact that the general public are far more laid back about this issue and the associated problems with drugs, they should all stop behaving like maiden aunts and face facts.

I happen to agree with Vanessa Smith on this issue. However in fairness to David Cameron, this problem has been around for a very long time. It sems to have been a  problem which was ignored by the outgoing Labour Government for the 13 years they were in offices passing thousands of ineffective laws.David Cameron has been in office for less than a month and has a very serious economic crisis and a huge government deficit inherited from the outgoing Labour Government to deal with.

News that the 'Elf & Safety fascists have put the kibosh on this ancient custom in East Anglia because it 'might be in breach of a law desgined to ban games in which excessive drinking might play a part', just beggars belief. Meanwhile we have several women who have likely been murdered by another lunatic who plied their trade in the oldest profession, if ever there was a case for the H&S to get of their a***s and justify their existance it is surely this. Women who work in this area need the full protection of the law, and if prostitution isn't a Health & Safety issue I don't know what is. Poncing around with kerb crawling etc. is the usual pussyfooting hypocrisy our Government's seem hell bent on perpetuating, when will someone have the guts to face the facts on some of the less savoury facts of life? Neither drugs nor hookers are going away, surely we should be concerned with saving lives rather than interfering with people just having a good time who have never either hurt themsleves or anyone else.

Well said, prostitution and prostitutes just like drugs and drug addicts don't go away just because some totalitarian dipsticks got all annul on the subject and make them criminal offences and criminal people. All that happens is the lives of those involved enter terminal decline, their safety is compromised and they have no one to help them. The authorities treat them like shit, whilst setting up the institutions of the state (Police and Prisons0 of the back of their misery.If prostitutes didn't have to walk the streets to work then their customers would not be kerb crawling to look for them.If drug users weren't criminalised when their drug use becomes problematic and if their possible criminalisation didn't leave such lasting problems in their lives often longer then their period of addiction; then maybe more would go to seek treatment and less would slide into prostitution.
