Free Adult Swimming Lessons for Non Swimmers - front page

Brilliant idea!  A number of years ago I paid for two adults to have swimming lessons as a present.  One insisted he could swim, but I had only seen him swim with one foot on the bottom and the other insisted he could swim but said he suffered from negative buoyancy.  By the end of the first course of adult lessons, they could both swim.  :-)

Sadly it seems that the free swimming for the over 60s and under 16s brought in by the last government has fallen victim to the new government's cuts.

These numbers are a pain.  My student son has had to spend a fortune attempting to sort out their shared house Thames Water bill.Is there an alternative cheaper telephone number?

Hi Philippa.  I had a flick through the link you gave and was surprised to see another 0845 number which we have to use to contact the centre directly.  I have to say that the web site is very well done and every question I had was answered clearly by the information laid out, so it would only be a rare occasion anyone would be forced to dial the number.C'mon new Council lets have a pledge to get rid of these phone numbers!

C'mon - there must be loads of adults learning to swim for the first time with stories!  Negative buoyancy chap was able to go through a full cave system after learning to swim whereas he previously freaked out when they came to a sump.  Best few ££ I ever spent.
