Actually Pat - either one of my cats could take charge of the England squad and do a better job. Seems to me that until the running of the Premier League and the F.A. are separated things will never change. Surely this is a clear conflict of interests? The players must get tired yet the Premier League bosses who are also on the FA board will not give up their lucrative summer tours. No-one could play their best in a big tournament after so many matches, or crucially bond together as a team. While there is so much greed put ahead of national pride we ain't gonna win sod all.

Frankly they were all rubbish - and I still don't know why Walcott was not included.  At least he is young enough to have energy and commitment. Also - as Rooney was obviously somewhere else - why didn't Peter Crouch have a greater role. And why wasn't Gerrard doing more to support Rooney, irrespective of where Capello had placed him.  I was actually quite sad when my grandson opened the car window and my St. George's flag shot off.  Now at least I don't have to ceremoniously ditch it.Finally, the kiddies who play weekly footbal in the park near me are so committed and make so much effort - maybe they should take charge of the England squad

Support a man who is a Scottish Nationalist....NEVER.Regards the Premier League season being to long. look at some of the other players who are in the World Cup and are doing well. Step forward Carlos Tevez.After watching John Terry's press conference I would place a lot of the blame on him, he played rubbish and was undermining the Coach.

JonYou need to acquire a Union Flag.  As I keep reminding all of my Scottish friends, successful athletes from north of the wall are British.Only unsuccessful athletes from that part of the world are Scottish.Similarly, Caledonian artists, surgeons, scientists and writers are British.Whilst Caledonian criminals, bankers and politicians are Scottish.Marillion and Nazareth hail from Britain, Travis and the Bay City Rollers from Scotland.Are you getting my drift?

Two planes have landed in England today. One carrying a group of overpaid, underachieving prima-donnas, the other carrying seven coffins draped in the Union flag. Hero is a much over used word these days but I know where my priorities lie! RIP brave soldiers!

Terry is the only one who seems to care about playing for England. Did you see Gerrard geeing everybody up? No. Too worried about trying to score himself when somebody else was in a better position.

Capello is yet more proof that success as a club manager means little or nothing in the international arena. A club manager works with his players every single day, and, if he is a good one, knows his players inside out. An international manager not only has to have a great grasp of tactics (and needs to be flexible with them when they don't work) but also a big enough personality to make the relatively short manager/player interaction time available really count. Capello failed dismally in both these areas. 4-4-2 in international competition just doesn't cut it these days and avoiding playing our best players out of position is a lesson we should have learned years ago under Taylor, Sven, McLaren et al.Joachim Löw seems to have the abilility to transform a team of lesser ability than England into an effective footballing force - maybe we should try poaching him!Seriously though, Capello was a dismal failure and we need to take time to find a manager with the personality and tactical nouse to allow us to compete successfully in international competitions. Wonder if Alex Ferguson fancies it as a post-retirement part-time job?

I don't know enough to comment on the technicalities of the game. However, I do think there is a lot of sense in the view that our season is too long, there are too many other cups/competitions and what have you, and that league clubs won't play ball and release players for the national team. Our team looked knackered and no wonder. Either we want to go into these competitions with a half decent chance or we don't. Either way the F.A. need to get their act together, and they also need to take on FIFA. Blatter is as bent as a nine bob note, and there are too many snouts in the trough to the detriment of the game, how can one man dictate to everyone? Oh! and Boris's stupidity about competitive games not being played in schools anymore being to blame is tripe. Rant over.

Very true. Terry should be fired and told he can no longer represent England. He seems to have been the ringleader.Heskey feeds onto Rooney very well but as Rooney played like an amatuer I would have brought on Crouch and tried to use his hieght.

When you're 4-1 down and you've got a back four who can't defend it seems to me an odd thing to do to bring on a centre forward who doesn't score goals.  I actually like Heskey as a player and understand the logic of playing him from the start, but bringing him on when you need to get three goals is a trifle strange.  Fabio has lost the dressing room, there can be little question about that now.

Not much. Upson and Terry should be sent home in economy, they played lioke they were part of a 6 year old team. No clue.I'll be interested to hear Paul's comments upon his return.
