Newsquest close former Brentford Chiswick and Isleworth Times

Sad that this once great title will finally go. It was being run down as a local paper for years though. It started to go down hill when the Dimbleby family sold out.

I for one will miss it greatly. This paper gave me a voice when I was being prosecuted/persecuted over 'being the person I was born to be'. The sympathetic articles and the publication of my letters to the editor helped in my effort to get compensation and an apology from the police. It was a good paper its editor seemed to understand that the morel stand of one person can amount to an immoral act upon another.

Yes, and who pointed out many a true word spoken in jest? Here we are barely 12 months later losing a local institution. Neil is right after the Dimblebys sold out the writing was on the wall, the BC&I ceased to be the truly local paper it once was. Much of this was down to bone idle journalism and a great lack of interest in truly local issues, years ago there were many decent reporters who cut their teeth on the good old BC&I and went on to national papers.

And, of course, you remember who fell for the April fool joke! LOL at their expense. We were cruel!But seriously, after the wonderful history of this local paper (The Brentford and Chiswick times etc)..it is regretable to hear of it's demise. But none of us can be really surprised.I've always had that newspaper delivered to me on Isleworthbut there was so little news about Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth about which I am interested.  The Local Sports pages were dire. Last weeks contained so little about local cricket...the major sole item being about Teddington Cricket Club!Richmond social news was aplenty and Feltham was often filling the columns.The Hounslow Chronicle is currently streets ahead..whether you pick up a free copy..or pay 60p(?) to your newsagent!

Do you remember the April Fools joke we successfully posted on 1st April 2007. We announced in the first message that the Newspaper had been folded up. The second message contained the above picture! Didn't we have some fun in the old days!
