Nice Pubs??

Anyone know of a Nice Pub Nr Isleworth that has a carvery please

Paul, don't forget to invite me on your next pub crawl of Isleworth. I too am miffed as to how the Town Wharf stays in business and the Caste hasn't been the same since Pat left a few years ago. The Swan and the London Apprentice (a free house as far as I'm aware) are definately the best pubs in Isleworth.

I popped in the London Apprentice last night and did ask one of the bar staff who the pub belonged to but she was unsure!! They did sell Youngs bitter though which suggests they do not have an official link with FullersNot many people there last night on such a glorious evening but I suppose it was a Monday but there seems to be a new menu available and the food we saw coming out looked very good indeed though it is a touch priceyWe then went to the Town Wharf and how this pub continues in business is beyond me as it is always very quiet and the lady behind the bar is always an example of customer service at its worse though the cider they sell there is deliciousOur last stop was the Swan and this place just gets better and better with excellent service and always a warm and welcoming atmosphereUsually I would have popped in to the Castle as well but the place has gone so downhill recently we could not be bothered

I really don't know whether it is a Fullers pub or not but I assumed that it was because they do certainly sell Fullers beer and have a Fullers menu inasmuch as the offerings are identical to the other pubs I mentioned as is the quality of the food.  The only possible difference is that some of them occasionally have a special of some sort which will be a deviation from the menu.The LA many years ago was a bit of a foodie pub when it had a large open counter with various cold meats and salads, pies etc as well as freshly cooked food but it's not like that anymore.

Sorry to be a pain in the bum but the ownership of the London Apprentice was bugging me. According to the Fullers website they don't own the pub. The nearest is in South St, the Swan Inn. It does sell London Pride though.

tucked away in chiswick behind Acton Green is the best pub  for roast dinner on a sunday it is The Swan in Chiswick, stocked with vast amounts of different wines - a real hidden gem to those who take the time out to find it - nestled between trendy studio flats and a red brick council estate by the end of the 94 bus route for a few pounds extra this really is a nice place to go - lots of tables, excellent service, outside seating - a hidden gem - with lots of good reviews.... and a park to walk off the over indulgence .... no carvery as such - but a damned fine sunday lunch....

It does roast lunches but not carvery and frankly they're not great.  Standard Fullers catering fayre which is the same as The Plough, The Six Bells, The Kent in Ealing and almost any other Fullers pub you can think of.  All pre-portion controlled stuff nothing freshly cooked from scratch except occasionally veg but that is normally just the usual peas and carrots and every meat I have tried (including chicken) has been catering sliced stuff not what I would call real beef/lamb/pork from a joint of meat.  Very disappointing really.Horses for courses I suppose but apart from location which is ok the London Apprentice is something of a disappointment as 30 years or so ago it really did serve good food.
