Any parents of children with autism here?
Here at Parents in Touch (PiT) we're thinking of starting a campaign to request the council set up some autism-specific education provision in the eastern end of the borough. At present there are no plans for anything nearer to Brentford and Chiswick than Smallberry Green in Isleworth. Here's the latest report brought to the executive in June:http://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=49795Parents are faced with a choice of mainstream with one-to-one support and very restricted access to services such as speech & language therapy, or a long bus journey to more specialist but socially isolating provision. Given that the report recognises the need for an increase in provision, that families in Brentford and Chiswick have poorer access to provision, surely it makes sense socially as well as economically to have provision here?Just testing the water here to see if there IS the demand we think there is. All comments welcome.More about PiT (needs updating):http://sites.google.com/site/parentsintouch/
