The boy done good

Congratulation to 'mighty' Mo Farah on his European 10,000 metre Gold Medal last night, didn't he go? It is also a very sweet victory for Isleworth & Syon School which is where Mo was first encouraged to take up athletics and nurtured. Looks good for the Olympics.

Indeed, lots of congratulations to Mo.But wasn't he originally at Feltham Community where Alan Watkinson spotted him:http://www.spikesmag.com/athletes/RisingStar/mofarah.aspxI think Mo transferred to I&S (?sixth form) when Mr. Watkinson moved there from Feltham.

Notice the reflection of the nearby church steeple... St Mary's Osterley.  Yes didn't the boy do well. There are several good write ups on the net.With regard to the old Brunel Sports College across the road (Ridgeway Road South)..I walked by there this afternoon and noticed that the athletics track has been relaid..and the white running lanes marked out.  Wasn't that all part of the agreement when planning permission was given to built all those homes there?

Trust me Lisa it isn't for the want of trying and very protracted negotiations with various outfits making very slow headway. As with most of these things what looked so simple and straightforward to us at the school has turned into yet another frustrating saga. All I can say is we are still working on it! We would also like the track to be available for public use too.

He is indeed an inspiration to the boys at Isleworth & Syon! It would however be fitting, for a sports college that has produced athletes of such high calibre, if the boys at the school were actually able to use the running track opposite their school this September! I have enquired as to why it remains unused, but answers are vague. Anyone have any ideas?
