As a former student and guest lecturer there, It was a sham when it became TVU and will still be a sham.It was a great Technical College, a good Higher Education College, but was never good enough to make a Polytechnic and how it became a University I will never know.I really feel for the students, I think they are conned into believing they are top flight university calibre but in reality the are still H E students.Such a shame as I believe there is no shame in good solid qualifications whether professional, vocational or academic,and whether it be F.E. H.E Poly or University , employers knew what strength came from where, but now it's all Mickey Mouse degrees and dumbed down.When I returned to lecture, the final year degree students were doing what I did in my first year. They had not learned anything practical could not demonstrate it. They simply rewrote everything from books American style.
