I read something yesterday in 'The Observer' about the Chairman of the Royal Collge of practioners banging on about how we must all take responsibility for our own health - normal stuff, don't smoke or drink, lose weight etc. etc. The good Dr. says that people will need 'continuing NHS and Government help'. He backs Andrew Lansley the so-called Health Secretary who just wants to save NHS money, which I don;t have a problem with as such. BUT - at the same time this is the same 'Health Secretary' who is doing away with the Food Standards Agency, who has bowed to the big food producers (and Tory party donors)and not imposed the traffic light system on food labelling to help us all identify more easily what we should be eating as part of a healthy diet. He has also very quietly decided not to require schools to serve a healthy diet, after all the hard work to change school meals policy. Either I'm daft or this is so contradictory it just doesn't make any sense. Andrew Lansley like many of his colleagues, is just a hypocrite, they can all talk the talk, and talk is cheap, it's actions that actually speak.
