HELP - Two big events on Sunday 5th September

Have you noticed that Brentford FC changed their fixture date and are now playing on the day of the Brentford Festival (Sunday 5th September at 12 noon) I believe because SKY asked! We at the festival wish to remind people that they can still go to both events but would like a number of people going to the match to give out our flyers as a reminder. Can you help? I can be contacted throughlinda.massey@brentfordfestival.org.uk or through the Pavilion Cafe in Boston Manor Park every day now leading up to the festival.

These little digital cameras are just amazing...It's a Canon Ixus 500..Viv Griffith (W4.forum) got it for me on e-bay..bless her...after my first one had been damaged by drizzle..taking pictures of road works in St John's Road.Only £100 or something.Of course one doesn't know how good a photo will be...until one gets home and processes it on the computer!I had my fingers crossed about this final shot of the day.When it popped out of the screen...I almost shed a tear!Isn't technology these days amazing?

The festival runs from 12noon-5.30pm.At the event will be a variety of family orientated activities such as Vikings, a dynamic dog display, a flight simulator, an army assault course and almost 100 stalls.Live music will run throughout the day.http://www.brentfordfestival.org.uk/BF2010.htm BIAS will be offering a matchday mascot package, to the winner of the BIAS keepy - uppy competition and are hoping some very special guests will attend the BIAS stall after the Bees v Sheff Wed and announce the winner of this competition.We will also have some Brentford related casual and sports wear for sale, on our stall .I have also been infomed that the Viking Bees will be making an appearance which is a shuddering thought

It will be just our luck that all the clubs loyal followers decide to go to the match on 5th. Hey ho. Last weeks home game at Griffin Park attracted less then 4000 people through the door even though the official figure was over 4000. This figure includes all season ticket holders, so it may not be a major problem as it will also be on tele.

It might help if representations were made to Brentford FC by residents and local councillors. The RFU used to have big matches right through December because of the broadcasting of the matches to the Southern Hemisphere countries via SKY. This made a colossal difference to businesses in Richmond, Twickenham and more locally in the lead up to Christmas, as every Saturday there was too much traffic and too many fans for anyone to bother going out shopping. There has been a local working party dealing with this and all other issues around matches and concerts for a number of years now. Consequently all the big matches for the Southern Hemisphere countries are now played in November and only one smaller match in December along with the Varsity Match which is on a weekday. If Brentford are going to do this on a regular basis I would suggest a similar approach, I'm afraid sport is big business now, SKY are only interested in money.

Brentford Railway Station will be busy too..and the buses.After all the hard voluntary work being put in by Linda Massey and her teams, it seems an unfriendly move by the Club and Sky to disrupt a Community event that normally attracts up to 10,000 people...all for good causes too.

Brentford FC did not play at home on the Festival Sunday 2009 - they were away to Charlton on the Saturday.Having both events on Sunday 5th this year is going to cause complete traffic chaos in the area. Does anyone get consulted on this, do they have to clear it with the local authority or can Brenford FC and Sky do whatever they like?

Didn't the same thing happen last year? It's most unusual for Brentford to play on a Sunday anyway and I'm sure they did it for the same reason last year. Do you think SKY (which are only up the road) are trying to sabotage the festival?
