Allotments available at Wellmeadow Road, Boston Manor?

The Borough of Hounslow boundary line makes a jagged route across the north of Brentford.  Places that you would have thought were in Ealing..are actually in Brentford, LBH.  One such place is the large area of allotments NORTH of Boston Manor Station.. It can be accessed from Wellmeadow Road,W7 !!  There is no notice board at the entrance gates..not even to say there are allotments there..let alone to say who manages them .It's extensive and looks underused.  Are plots advertised anywhere?It's a hidden away community facility that some might fancy cultivating. A little hid away shed for the weekends!Perhaps Wellmeadow Road is not as attractive as the allotment plots at Robin Grove, Brentford where little "beach huts" have appeared alongside the Grand Union Canal ..opposite The Island development.Sitting outside those little huts on a summer's evening whilst the sun is going down..must be "the Sandbanks of Brentford"!

Thanks for the information ladies.I had silly ideas of a small summer house overlooking the Boston Manor railway line or Canal perhaps!Linda mentions a drainage problem there. Water sure floods down the gentle fall to the Canal beyond. It's a flood plain.Walking across that off the beaten track field the other side of the old Eversheds Sports ground one can see water laying above the grass in patches.  Wet socks there for sure. Pleasant walk though.So that's Wellmeadow allotments folks! More knowledge for your Brentford local history "O" level exams!

The allotments come under Laing on behalf of Hounslow.  With over 60 people on the waiting list for the nearby Blondin Allotments in Ealing WE down in the park have often been asked about availabiity.  Although they apparantly look a shamble they are apparantly full!  Difficult site though as it suffers from a drainage problem.

According to the LB Hounslow website there are waiting lists for all the allotments in the Borough. When I moved to Brentford 5 years ago I applied for an allotment and was offered one at Wellmeadow - at that time there were quite a few available. It seemed a bit too far away so I put my name down for Robin Grove. Still waiting! But in the meantime I managed to get one on Blondin, which despite being in Ealing is a bit nearer than Wellmeadow, because of the jagged boundary line Jim mentions.
