no-one's mentioned the new flower shop

After scanning back over the last month's worth of posts to this forum, its surprising to note that no-one has mentioned the new flower shop - just by the pelican crossing. I thought that there was general consensus that the high street needs new shops (that are not bookies). Is there a reason why is everyone keeping quiet about the new flower shop? Or should I be realistic and not expect the same level of noise that accompanies a local pub closing...Right, I'm off to get me a bunch of tulips.

Bought an excellent bunch of lilies from the shop last Friday. Charming lady served me.

It does look very attractive. If we want to keep and encourage shops like this, we need to use them (I haven't yet, I must admit). Recently (as reported in the TW8 Newsletter in September)Brentford High Street came out as London's top Home Town in the New Economics Foundation report "Reimagining the High Street - Escape from Clone Town Britain" by reason of its diversity. The report is available as a pdf from the NEF website www.neweconomics.org and it is worth having a look at it.

At last I've seen where the new shop is and one wishes it well.The vintage ladies clothing shop previously there did look cute and xtrendy" if that's the word..and was sorry to learn of it's demise.It's such cute shops that one had visualised would line the Brentford "lanes" from High Street to the river. Seemingly local shopping habits don't match that fantasy of Brentford 2020.

The last flower shop in Brentford that I recently recall was in Boston Manor Road..near the junction with Glenhurst and opposite the famous Boston Cafe.It really had a fine display and perhaps serviced the GWR office.They moved and now it's washing and ironing.Not into your plants Philip..can't give a bunch of that stuff to the missus!

Alan - I suspect it is because it does not offer an obvious (or let's be honest even an obscure) opportunity for certain individuals to try and score political points.Is it any good?

Lets hope it last longer than the last one put out of business by thieves putting through her windows at the cost of several hundred pounds ago and all for a couple of ponds left in the till over night.At least the High Street brake ins have stopped since they spent a weekend trying to brake into my shop when it was on the High Street. I suspect the fact that I camped in the shop the night they succeeded in getting in and I broke one of their noses and gave another a bit of a kick in before they escaped put them off a bit as did the fact I did what the police had failed to do during the 2-3 years they where active. Identify them.
