Gritting fails again

Having just walked to and from Ealing, I could not help but notice that all the side street pavements have been gritted from South Ealing to the Brentford border...then.......Nothing.Once again the side streets in Brentford are treacherous.One can understand the priority being to the main roads but at least do the sidewalks too, but not even that has been managed. Let alone so much as a pile of grit on street corners to at least allow the fitter members of the community to do the small bits themselves.Last time it took a bunch of residents to go and 'lift' a few bag loads of grit from the highstreet and help out the one chap from LBH who had one load too far away from where he was working.  Comical ut like most BBC comedies, a repeat.If Ealing can do it, why not here?

According to my husband the gritting in Hounslow has been very good, he said the difference betweeen our roads and those that come under Richmond was markedly better. I think that councils could actually help clear the side roads by putting some piles of grit/salt in various places so that householders could go and get it to spread it in smaller roads, they actually did this in RIchmond last year in the Whitton area and it worked very well. After all aren't we supposed to be trying to have a 'Big Society'?
