Brentford Aits (the islands!)

We know about  Lot's Ait...a FORUM SEARCH lists many previous threads. Lot's Ait is the "semi inhabited" small island at the bottom of Smith Hill, near the Waterman's Art Centre. Lot's falls within the TW8 ward called "Syon"But those two long islands blotting out the view of Kew..and in front of St Georges Church and Holland Gardens...they're in Kew, Surrey! Only realised that when I looked at a Kew map last night.So Surrey's land is closer to Brentford that I thought.Can someone confirm?

I'd heard they couldn't build there because of some endangered species. Robert Rankin uses the Swan as a location but people had told me it was the old Bricklayers.

Name of the pub on the Ait?The Swan  / The White SwanOversaw hordes of debauched activity apparently.. well Surrey wasn't it.

So: is part of "Brentford" as we know it..in Surrey?Good pub question perhaps?...that's if its true.

Gillian Clegg says in her B&C pubs book..page 58 that there was once a pub on the island..known for it's eels and noisy customers!So much noise it seems that a Kew resident purchased the island(s?)..and closed it down! Know the name of the pub?
