Save Brentford Library

Is there a Save Brentford Library group? I would like to join it.

Firstly, in response to Vanessa, I believe there are ALREADY civilian volunteers working at Police Stations. At Hounslow I recall a volunteer working on the front desk.The suggestion by someone (apologies forgotton who made it) to established a Friends of Brentford Library) sounded a great idea. Some many aspects of the "Carnegie Library" could be looked after by such a  group...information, caring activities and knowledge for starters.Taking a leaf out of Linda Massey and Jan Jones book at Boston Manor Park, their Friends of Boston Manor" organisation is currently being re-formed into a Charity..so that grants and funds can be attracted..as well as other benefits.You won't see skipfuls of rubbish and unsorted trash in BMP like you do currently at Brentford Library..(you saw my picture?) Perhaps a Friends Group could introduce the Library to the world of recycling!Time is running out to fill in those forms.. or do e-petition.

You have deiberately not wanted to understand my comments, as you know full well I meant just concentrating on Brentford wasn't right we need to defend the WHOLE service. The volunteering bit is people actually running the services as our dear PM envisages - you can't forget the 'Big Society' rubbish surely. This is alright until people realise there will have to be a considerable commitment of regular hours/days etc. And don't forget that Dave also wants volunteers at the Police station and the local school etc. Good Luck!

For your information, you need to pick up a feedback form (from the library) to protest against possible closure. Forms need to be sent in by next Monday. Thanks

Take no notice Ruth.It's a noble thought.May be every insignificant little town should start a campaign.

I don't think this is a time for being selfish actually - the world does not begin and end in Brentford - the rest of us would like to keep our local libraries too, I doubt that will be possible but we must try and keep as many as we can.
