Fatal accident involving Citroen Saxo Gt. West Road

Since the alterations were made at the junction with Syon Lane, this junction has become very dangerous with all vehicles travelling way too fast, particularly those from the west turning right towards Busch Corner.

Your reference to the the timing of these traffic lights is absolutely correct. Over the past few years there have been numerous serious accidents at this junction. The layout also encourages drivers of huge articulated HGV's to do a U turn back towards Heathrow. Ron.

Agreed Jim - I struggled to work out where the Chron meant as the picture was nothing like round Chiswick House before realising it was the Dairy.

Today's Hounslow Chronicle continues with it's front page report by saying that "it is only a few weeks since a Japanese businessman was killed ON THE SAME STRETCH OF THE A4 after a lorry crossed the central reservation" and hit his taxi.This is geographically incorrect as so many news report are. This later accident happened on the A4 in Chiswick, opposite the old United Dairies Depot/ Porsche Parking yard..between Harvard Hill and Sutton Lane South.A Chronicle previous report had said it happened near Chiswick House!!Very sad about the accidents...but I wish the journalists were better at their geography.

Ron,From your posting I was incorrectly making assumptions about how this accident was caused..thinking it might be to do with traffic turning southwards towards Busch Corner.Looking at the picture in today's Hounslow Chronicle it would appear that the fatal accident occurred on the London bound carriageway...200metres after Gillette Corner and after the junction with Harliquin Avenue...the clues.being in the picture I believe.I've found that Gillette Corner junction much much safer than it used to be..especially with the filter lights and clearer indicators.

But there are traffic lights and filter lights in all directions.Traffic from the west, turning right towards Busch Corner is siphoned off the main carriageway and is stopped by a filter traffic light..until it turns green...traffic from London having been halted.A problem though is the very short time between one light turning red..and an opposing one turning green. Little leeway for overshoots and non stoppers to avoid a collision sadly. Hopefully the Accident Investigation team will work that out..or even save time and read this Forum!!Very sad though all these crashes.
