I have this morning received the following e-mail from Hilary MurgatroydLocal / Regional Government Liaison of Thames Water"Your statement which alleges that Thames Water has charged the Rose Community Centre for water used to extinguish a fire which affected the property is incorret.Water used for this purpose is sourced from a different supply pipe within the network and cannot therfore be charged to an individual customer.I have spoken to a representative from the Community Centre and she advised of the context in which the suggestion was made that we may have chrged for the water used to put out the fire. I have provided reassurance to her that this was not the case.In addition, she advised that water is constantly running through the toilets and this is more than likely to be contributing to the higher water bill. She advised that the matter has been reported to the London Borough of Hounslow but it has not yet been recitifed.I hope this clarifies the issue sufficeintly enough for you.Kind regards, Hilary Murgatroydhilary.murgatroyd@thameswater.co.uk"I should like to make it clear that my source at the Community Centre told me the truth as they believed it to be.  I should also like to apologise to Thames Water for posting something that was not true even though this was done in good faith: however, it's an ill wind as they say and as a result of this strand the Coummunity Centre Committee are now properly aware of why their water bill is so high and I understand that Hilary Muragtroyd is now working with them to reduce the cost of their water in the future.
