High Street

Could anyone tell us which shop is the longest trading shop on the high street?  Best wishes  Simon

It was run by the Gomms family who owned the Beehive Brewery. All the pubs were sold to Fullers. Not sure if any of the buildings opposite the Brewery Tap are original brewery buidings.

Oh yes, The Beehive! That was owned by the old Brentford Brewery wasn't it. Begins with a letter G! Forgotten it already ..and we were studying these things so keenly recently on the Charlotte Cottages thread!Was it Gomm?Buzz off Lawes and get on with your work!

The White Horse isn't along the High st but it must be one of the oldest businesses in the town. The Beehive dates from the late Victorian period so that would make it one of the oldest along the road.

The Dew Drop (cafe) has been trading since the 60s but I suspect it may have changed hands a few times.

I don't suppose the Nat West money shop is older ?Obviously, when it comes to beer shops, they are all older.

I think it will be Goddards. Both them and the cop shop have been in the same place since the 1960's although both re-locted to thier present locations.

And hardly a Union Jack in sight on the High Street tonight.Some lone ones in the Goddard's windows and,of course, Quilliams Property Services have a bumper load.Not a flag at The Globe,(Windmill Road) nothing down the Great West Road, but loads of cars driving into London.
