Hi Natasha, I was going to post something on the forum about the development but you beat me to it! Mrs Morland and Aliki went to view the plans on behalf of Our Lady and St John's (already suffering from the negative impact of the Paragon tower block). The plans are still at the public consultation stage and have been very poorly publicised. The agenda seems to be to sneak it in as quietly, and with as little fuss, as possible. Over 300 flats are proposed, in 3 large tower-blocks, 6-8 stories high. The site stretches all the way up to Gunnersbury School. It will overlook all of the houses on Windmill Road and be easily seen from Whitestile and surrounding streets. Parking, traffic, environmental issues and the pressure on already creaking local health, social and education services do not seem to be a consideration. I have emailed all three local councillors requesting their support in fighting this tooth and nail. What Brentford needs is quality, family-sized, affordable houses to encourage people to stay in the area and invest in the community. The last thing we need is another high-rise apartment block ... or three! Will try to find out more and maybe demand another meeting with the developers.
