You have hit the nail on the head Sara, a Free Market Economy. We all know that competitive rates in many instances make a contract, however we only have to look at Europe as a whole to appreciate that one monetary rate is not viable, Greece,Portugal,Spain including all of the other European holiday countries are in dreadful economic straits because of having only one currency tourists are just not going there, therefore hotels are getting rid of staff result unemployment-economy going downhill-food prices astronomical. We all save to go on holiday, when countries had there own currencies it was more than possible to have a great holiday whilst not being as expensive as the UK,now go on holiday to any European country and it cost more than most people can afford, people are going to countries that still have there own currencies. Purely because they are getting more for there money. Financially we need exchange rates to boost economies and competitive prices to ensure that boost. How long has this the 3rd go at the Euro been in place, whenever before did we hear of countries going bankrupt, Countries now are held to ransom to borrow you only have to look at Ireland, they had a Referendum that quite emphatically stated the Irish peoples wishes not to be in Europe and were made to have a second referendum. It is not good for a countries parliament not to run it's own destiny, I am proud to be English and British I refuse to have my identity taken away. It is approx 12 to 13 years since any Audit company have signed off the expenditure on Europe and they are first class and refuse to put there well respected company names to such false expenditure, that says it all. The British Isles were self contained once and we survived on our own, now unfortunately we are owned lock stock and barrel by foreign companies, this contract just given to Siemens for 1.4 Billion pounds resulted in the redundancies of 1400 people, did no one think about that, the contract price may have been better but in the long run it will be worse for we the people and the economy, government should have learnt from the Kraft Fiasco.

I do know that this government were thrown in at the deep end without experience to try to solve the terrible mess left by Labour much which was caused through Gordon Brown's inability to accept that Tony Blair had reneged on his promise to step down.Even now Tony Blair still has high expectations of becoming Napoleon the Turd (The President of Europe) that man has so much to answer for and yet he still has high hopes, even Gordie had high hopes after all did he not apply for the position of head of the International Monetary Fund he really must have a screw loose to do that after bankrupting us.I remember 11 years ago when my perfectly healthy daughter who had never spent a day in hospital or ever had any illness went in agony to hospital and spent 18 hours on a trolley in the corridor of West Mid's A&E, she was finally admitted for a routine Gall Stone Operation nearly died and has to spend the rest of her life on life saving drugs through incompetence and health care that was not as it should have been, do you know why!!! because boss's were afraid to take staff to task for fear of being taken to a tribunal for either discrimination or racism purely by insisting that staff do there job properly. That my dear was your Tony Blair's fault by introducing that damned '97 act. However I personally can only say good things about my treatments, different hospitals have differing management ideas. Do any of you realize that it cost the NHS 90 pounds to have a light bulb changed why? cannot hospitals band together and have maintenance people on the cards instead of outsourcing, it would be much more beneficial to pay a couple of salaries instead of how many thousands per month to agencies. How much material is brought and wasted purely because the office management really have no idea of what is actually required, do they have a purchasing office no of course not, buying depends on who gives the best dinner and who receives it. David Cameron is trying his best, unfortunately in the background we still have personnel from the last administration therefore expense that is not necessary will continue, what we need is a government run hospital supplier that will ensure that the price also supplies are the best in the market. Make no mistake I do know what I am talking about, the money saved would be astronomical and it would be easy. You are obviously of the opinion that management is better suited to hospitals instead of personnel who have come up through the ranks. Yes we have seen some amazing scientific advances however those advances have in all probability monetary wise at least been because of funds received from the public, both Dee and I have several covenants on the go to different charities. Of course problems are difficult to solve but don't you think that by working together instead of opposing sides life would be so much simpler. Can you hand on heart, honestly say to all of us, that our economic disaster would have dissappeard by now if Labour had gotten in.
