Freemasons (Why are they maligned)

Initially they were formed by Stonemasons in the 16th & 17th centuries to ensure that they had work when moving about the country building Cathedrals & Castles, it is also inferred that they were used to discuss Religion and Politics as early as the 13th Century. Believe it or not but there are over 2 Million Freemasons in the USA surprising isn't it.Both Vanessa & Philip have made asinine remarks about the Masons when neither have any knowledge of them. All of us in truth have at one time or another helped a friend out by giving a daughter or son a start up the ladder does that make us crooked of course not, it gives us pleasure to be able to help out.

There's no real mystery.They are an exclusive association,have secret rituals and signs,are known to help fellow masons(in spite of the law it is rumoured!)and members are quite often influential and in the upper echelons of business,legislature and general big wiggery.My personal opinion of them could border on slander,so I'll say no more.

The biggest favours they do are for each other - the architypal wheels within wheels, not to be rude Sarah but frankly I wouldn't want to join a 'Ladies lodge'. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes, it's a secret society whatever you think - 'charity work' covers a multitude of sins in my opinion.

We were recently responsible for clearing through the house of the wife of a grand master (also deceased) of a lodge and did not hesitate in passing back to the masons anything relating to them.  I understand they do a huge amount of charity work and that there are lodges for women.

Well - I for one am having great difficulty following what's going on here - suffice to say the man charged with the awful slaughter in Norway was a Freemason. That is not to say I think they're all men with evil intent. I just think men who want to join secret societies and dress up in aprons etc. are slighly odd, sounds more like Blyton's Famous Five!

I didn't ask you to get in a conversation about medical cannabis, If all you know of me is from the furom then you know even less than I thought you did.  As for the near fatal stabbing, I'm waiting for a more informed person to tell me about it, one less hysterical, less judgemental then you.

Mr Walsh your wrong I have never read about you in the papers,I only know about you from this forum and it is all you!! Not one of you have made a comment on the near fatal stabbing in Brentford the other day only about how you have been nearly bankrupted and victimized by the Police for selling seeds and NO!!! I don't seem to have posted here but have apparently said something; good trick if you can do it.  In truth I don't like secret societies, dodgy handshake groups, or any other selected through the back door / invited by a mate arrangements.  Why because they stink of corruption and self servitude.

I am open to your explanation of the word at all times.Collins also the Oxford Dictionary are good to read through.
