For the last 4 year's the Ministry of Defence have lost 6.5 Billion Pounds of Equipment WHY??

Where is the public outcry, our troops need this equipment, apparently the cost of 2 Aircraft Carrier's has gone from 3.5 Billion up to 10 Billion if there was a major investigation into the where about's of said missing equipment and it was found!!! we as a country would be 6.5 Billion pounds better off and able to afford the 2 Aircraft Carriers plus our troops would be better equipped.So MOD staff get off of your bureaucratic behind's and seriously start looking.How on earth can such a vast amount of equipment be lost. We as a Nation cannot and should not depend on other countries for protection.

They should have highly accurate computerised stock records showing what they have got and where everything is.

Well, can't you just see the MoD lining up all the tanks, ships (well the few we have left) guns, bullets, bombs, clothing supplies etc. and counting it every month! Do be sensible.

Whatever happened to monthly stock control, I remember many years ago going into work on a Sunday with my colleagues,having a great laugh whilst doing a stock control check. In any business you have to be seen to have hands on otherwise you really do not know if this stock was actually delivered do you?.

Certainly happened at Lambeth Council with £3m worth of housing equipment like bathrooms and kitchens - fraudster went abroad before it was spotted!

It's conceivable that as you suggested a clerical error, however the MOD should launch a vigorous investigation a.s.a.p not just keep hoping that it will eventually turn up. After all where on earth could you hide 6.5 Billion Pounds of Equipment unless of course invoices have been submitted entered onto the computer system without the goods actually having been recieved, has happened, could happen.

180 Million Pounds of High Tech Radios that our troops seriously need were among the equipment gone missing, incidentally the MOD say that it is not missing they just cannot remember where it is!!!! It has been 4 years since the MOD has been signed off, this equipment should be found pdq.

It hardly sees posible to loose so much, my late husband was a Warrant Officer in supply  in the RAF, this was before computers and records were made of all transactions,nothing went missing could it be that someone messed up by hitting the wrong button, a search must be made

I agree Dawn - suggest write to Mary Macleod asking what equipment is lost and how it came to be lost.
