skirmish in brentford

HiI was in the Beehive at about 10.35 when a gang of kids came running past,and a major Police presence turned up.There must have been 40 or 50 Police,including a CCTV unit and a carrier of riot Police.They arrested 4 0r 5 kids.It seems to be quiet now,but all of the pubs were closed.

I was worried when i heard about the gathering in brentford what with the rioting and looting going on,especially when all the shops in brentford have next to nothing to sell,l thought they might start getting rid of thier loot by stocking up the brentford shops.

I watched the troubles on television and began to really worry when I saw Ealing go up because I have family in Brentford (behind the Stadium) and in Ealing.  What do these thugs get out of it?  I mean, they used the excuse social deprivation but up here in Scotland we have socially deprived areas but they have not rioted.  And how come most of these who looted and rioted had really good jobs.

There was one report today of a looter - a young one, 'phoning his Mum to come and pick him up, she bowled up in a car with a disabled badge, loaded the boot and swanned off!

Adam, I agree wholeheartedly to all your points.Kid's who are allowed out until they choose to come home, what 10,11,12,1,2- they need direction and discipline(not beatings)When do kids sit down to a proper meal with the family, they just do not it is either McD's Nando's or another fast food.

Let's get real Dawn, I doubt many of the parents of the rioters were in the slightest bit concerned about what their offspring was up to, they were probably supplying the 'shopping' list of things to loot...And what's this about kids knowing they are loved not just endured ? - as a kid if I misbehaved I got the slipper, not aware it ever made me think that I wasn't loved.You've hit the nail on the head when you mention kids having Blackberries, so many parents spoil/pander their kids so they end up like spoilt brats, I don't believe children should ever have mobile phones, but if they are given one then it should be a very basic model, not the latest Blackberry, I-Phone or Galaxy S2.  If I had a child and he/she asked for a Blackberry they could certainly have one...by picking it from the bramble bush !.

Let's hope that they are dealt with severely. Parents should take back control of children, knowing where they are at any given time of the day, they all have Blackberries so it should not pose a problem. A home time should be set as well, kids need to know that they are loved not just endured.

That's as maybe, but I note that one of the shops raided by looters following the initial Tottenham riot was Iceland.While others were making off with mobile telephones and plasma TVs I found myself unable to shake off this image of a posse of witless gangstas having it away on their toes down the Seven Sisters Road with a box of two dozen economy ice cream cones.Brentford shopkeepers leave their nail files unattended at their own risk.
