Not often I find a great deal to approve of in Mr. Andrews, but Gilligan's reported behaviour is entirely familiar to me - he once misquoted me in the Standard (running two quotes together, one of which wasn't said by me).  Amusingly, in the same article he also used the same phraseology used by an anonymous online commenter with similar views to Andrew, which led us to discover that he was in the habit of puffing his own work using various online identities to pretend to be someone else.http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/davehillblog/2008/nov/03/gilligan

Phil, What you do or what you might have been, is really no concern of mine or anyone else's, however being an ex-Councillor you have a reputation to maintain and to say that you were glad because this guy was mugged is disgraceful. Especially in light of what we as communities are experiencing at the moment. You are a responsible person for goodness sake act like one.

Thanks Daniel.  It costs money to sue and that is something I have never had much of, despite occassional rumours to the contrary.I rarely take pleasure in other people's pain but I confess to a feeling of reassurance from the knowledge that what goes around comes around.

Let's be honest if someone who has done us down then gets some sort of comeuppance most of us wouldn't be crying in our beer over it. I'm certainly not that noble I can tell you, what is most satisfying is that they get theirs and you haven't had to lift a finger, just listen to the pigeons coming home to roost  - revenge is most certainly a dish best eaten cold

Personal experience of the man, and of his preparedness to place the safety of my family into jeopardy by telling deliberate lies for the sake of a story.  He should be thankful I wasn't with the lads who nicked his bike.Besides, with his track record how can we be sure he hasn't just made the whole thing up?
