International Year of the Co-op 2012

Next year is International Year of the Co-op. The London Borough of Hounslow has a proud history of co-operative business and development and we should be marking this special year in some suitable way. I would like information on how to contact any co-op in the area to bring people together to discuss this. Please get in touch to give information on how to contact any co-op you know of or to share ideas for a celebration.

Over a number of years Hounslow Councillors have supported groups of local people who wanted to set up co-operatively run organisations. They have facilitated the foundation of a Credit Union and numerous Housing Co-operatives that I know of. I also know that there was at one time a Co-operative Development Agency and I wonder if any of the businesses set up then are still in operation. There is a branch of the co-operative youth group - the Woodcraft Folk - which covers some areas of Hounslow. And of course there is the Nationwide BS etc. Anyone know of any others??

Yup. I'd be interested in knowing how Hounslow Council keep this tradition going. Do they publish their worthy efforts?
