Whats the best place to eat in Brentford for less than £20 per person? thanks Simon

Please someone get down (or up) to Tandoori Villa (or order a take away - 8567 6353). They are in Ranelagh Road South Ealing - just past St Mary's church.Martin is the boss - tell him Ian Silver recommended him.I'm dying to find out what others think as I have always been so impressed.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal in San Marco (and great value) but this was before the current management. Keep meaning to go back to see if the quality is still as good.

We go to a lot of restaurants Deborah,so have a good basae to compare. Were treated badly in this one and most of the food the party of 4 we were in had was laughably poor.The waitress was churlish and rude and the manager no better.I don't go back to a place if I think it is this poor.I would rather spend my hard earned elsewhere.

Bought food from the Persian restaurant at the Fire Station tonight (maybe called Atash?). Very nice - would definitely recommend it!

Sounds like it might be time to give La Rosetta another try. We've been to the slightly smarter section on a regular basis since moving here 5 years ago and find it consistently good. We like the personal, attentive service too.

I'm surprised 'La Rosetta' has been mentioned thus far.  Good Italian food, not expensive and very good service.

Greedies seconded - they also now have a place in Kew, The Greyhound at Kew Greeen 8940 7500 and they are in South Street Isleworth (8560 8562) just down from the War Memorial just steps away from the 267 as Keith says. They also have a boat restaurant in Richmond. I have never, in the years I have eaten at Greedies, had anything other than lovely food and good service.

Jim,I was being all post modern ironic like with the Jenny suggestion.I didn't put a smiley because there isn't an icon showing someone puking,which would be more appropriate.Forgot to mention Greedy's,though not in Brentford it is only a short 267 ride away.Their grub is usually pretty good and well inside this price range.Kind of modern British/European .They are not open late I believe so worth checking first if you want this option.

Go to the "corner caf" at Brook Lane North.Fry ups etc but the food is unbelievably bad, they should be shut down.Probably a tenner for 2.....but not worth the risk..

Jenny's Keith?  You must be joking! Rubbish food disgustingly served to adults who often "treat " their kids there too.Much better bet is to go to where I went today. The People's Cafe at the Age Concern place in Albany Road. A fab fry up with excellent toast and tea for £4. No tip or booking fee necessary!Siracuse at Brentford Lock has fed me a couple of times recently at a modest cost. Enjoyed it.  But, if you're ordering soup..make sure you take your own soup spoon as their kitchen drawers don't stock them!!

I agree the Brentford Tandoori is pretty awful and you'd be lucky to get a glass of wine for less than £20 at The Weir let alone food to go with it!  The Guru in the Watermans is OK and also Siracusa or the Riverside (was Grounds) on the canal.

Tandoori Villa in Ranelagh Road, South Ealing is certainly the best for Indian food.They do take away or sit down. Not licenced but you can take your own booze and there's no corkage charge.Been using it for about 20 years now - brilliant.

Good restaurants,or in fact any restaurants worth the name that are in your price range, are something  that Brentford does not have,imo.You can get good grub and real ales and cider and Belgian beers at the Magpie and Crown.
