Thanks for your comments Phil. I hear that your family are top collectors for this great cause in TW7. That's great and yes, isn't it rewarding. This afternoon was certainly eventful at Morrisons. A thousand shoppers passed by during my 4 hour stint..and well over 100 gave donations.Standing at the Entrance/Exit one can observe the activities of the Security chap. Most charming and interesting people..the two chaps I've met this week. No shoplifter was seemingly observed during that 4 hours.. except when to Security Chap left the zone to investigate elsewhere in the Store. I was on my own there..I saw this very tall lanky fellow, pale and white faced, wearing a cap walking quickly in the wrong direction towards an exitwith a basket filled with unshoppingbagged packs of meat chops and steaks..and I immediately alerted myself that I was observing a dodgy shoplift. With my poppy tray slung round my neck I quickly jumped into the scalleywag's path and told him "You haven't paid for that" and push him backwards..and backwards. I suppose he could have whacked me..but I persisted and began calling out "HELP....SECURITY.....HELP....SECURITY". Shoppers all around looked at the drama unfolding..as I continued to call loudly for help.  The scalleywags slowly returned towards the Meat Counter to replace the goods taken but by then  the Security chap and shop staff descended and held the young chap for questioning.A policeman was there too. In brief, the store decided not to pursue the matter (over £80 of goods) (even though Brentford Police Station is next door)..and the scalleywag was released and allowed to leave with a warning no doubt.Isn't that crazy? That's not zero tolerance!Shoppers came to shake hands with me..and help me recover. No, the store did not reward me for my efforts... but the Security Guard kindly presented me with 3 Eccles cakes..and he knew I was getting ready for a tea break. So, the poppy collecting session continued and I continued to meet some jolly nice people.. several who I knew. It was still a privilege to be there.See you there sometime tomorrow!
