Wonderful news Nick Clegg needs an additional 8 staff to spy on Whtehall!!

Nick Clegg has decided that the Lib Dems are under represented in Whitehall, consequently he persuaded David Cameron to allow him these extra political staff at a cost of wait for it 500 thousand pounds a year to we the tax payer probably more. Apparently they are to be called spads because they will be "Special Advisers"to individual departments. Why should these people be allowed to work in Whitehall when they are only there to spy on them and report to Mr Clegg.That kind of money could keep one man businesses on the go for quite a while.A Lib Dem source said 'we know we will take a bit of flak for this, but we need more political support in these departments'

Former Lib Dem voters who are sore at Nick Clegg for going into coalition with the Tories are unlikely to switch to the Tories.In the extremely unlikely event that Nick Clegg loses Sheffield Hallam in 2015 it would probably fall to Labour, notwithstanding the fact that the Tories were marginally the second party in the constituency at the GE last year.Still, I suspect that would be a satisfactory result for you anyway David.  After all a two party state is twice as democratic as a one party, isn't it?  Particularly when the two parties have so much in common.

Clegg spent his earlier career working for the EU. Perhaps he will return there when his career as an MP ends at the next General Election.

An old saying "The higher you go the harder you fall" I think he is on just about his last legs, he is not in it for we people he is in it for himself could we trust him to do the best for us NO we cannot. If he had his way we would be in Europe right now.

It is indeed a great pity that a Eurofederalist like Nick Clegg should be in the House of Commons. It is even more unfortunate that as Deputy Prime Minister holding the balance of power he is able to persuade the Conservatives to do things we do not want  them to do.

The guy is so intent on taking us fully into the EU that he has forgotten all about boosting our economy if he mentions once more that we should ensure Europe's growth,I'll spit fire he won't like that.

If the ICG's experience during the 2006-2010 administration at LBH is anything to go by, Whitehall will be being used to undermine Liberal Democrat ministers and to ensure that few of their policies are implemented where they are not actively being sabotaged.This is the Conservative Party's approach to coalition government.  They are certainly not people you would want in the pool with you when you were drowning.I don't blame Nick Clegg for trying to protect his party's interests.  I agree it should not be necessary, but unfortunately it becomes so when you are dealing with people who are of this particular mindset, indeed a mindset that David demonstrates repeatedly through his posts on this forum and over at W4.com.

The sooner we get rid of Nick Clegg the better. He is costing us a fortune. He may not be a liberal but he is very liberal with taxpayers' money.
