Strange Machine on the River Bed

I was at the Waterman's on Friday afternoon; it was low tide and there was a machine out on the river bed, which appeared to be shifting mud back and forth.Anyone any idea what it was doing?

Thanks both. I did notice the docking sheds and wondered why I'd never seen them before -- presumably much more visible now the roofs are off.Sounds like it's all look a lot nicer when done but the machine must be very restricted as to when it can operate on the river bed.

SusanLot's Ait, opposite the Watermans Arts Centre, is being revitalised by a company called Monument who have also done the moorings at Ferry Quays.  The three docking sheds have had their roofs removed prior to being prepared as serviced leisure moorings.  The derelict lighters at the upstream end of the Ait are being cut up and removed ready for further moorings, one of the buildings behind the docking sheds is being renovated for a boat builder and repairer to move into and a footbridge is being constructed at the MSO boatyard by the Thames Lock and will connect the Ait to the shore about 50m west of the slipway opposite Ealing Road.David

Probably to do with the changes taking place on Lot's Ait.. opposite the Watermans.The sludge looks as though it's being cleared away (purification is a word that comes to mind ..having seen the colour of the muck there!) as clearly illustrated on Hans (Brentford Dock Residents) Flickr photo gallery.http://www.flickr.com/photos/viktor_web_studios/6311191795/in/photostream
